April 2008

“Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls- yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength…”
Habakkuk 3:17-19

Habakkuk was living in a time of distress. From his perspective it seemed as though the wicked were prospering, while the righteous were struggling. But in the midst of barrenness, God brought His eternal perspective to Habakkuk. He will not forsake His children, and Habakkuk knew that even when times seemed especially hard, the Lord would provide for, strengthen, and comfort those who call on His name. With this perspective, Habakkuk could confidently say in spite of the circumstances surrounding him, “I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”

Personal Story with Janna Meyen

Janna Meyen has been named the womens most influential snowboarder of all time. Originally from Big Bear, California she has been snowboarding professionally for the past 20 years. Three years ago Janna’s friend had given her a copy of the surf film Noah’s Arc, knowing that Janna was going through a hard time in her life and asking those philosophical questions. As Janna shares, “I threw in the film to check it out and I had a personal encounter with God. He had been tugging on my heart for a long time and He got my attention.” She related with the surfers in Noah’s Arc with the addictions and hurt and their testimonies gave her hope. Janna explains that it was always hard for her to ask for help, but watching the film would bring her comfort and she felt the Lord working. Noah’s Arc had watered a seed in her and she watched the film for a year before she gave her life to the Lord.

In November of 2007 Janna heard about the Nations Foundation with Joel Parker and his hopes to make an evangelistic snowboarding film. Knowing the impact that Noah’s Arc had on her life, Janna was excited to take part in the Nations Foundation project. The snowboarding industry has never had a film like this before and Janna is excited to be a part of the Nations Foundation project and prays that it will impact the lives of snowboarders as Noah’s Arc impacted her. The Australia Tour Of Walking On Water Update

We want to thank those of you who prayed for and financially supported the Australia tour of “Walking On Water.” It could not have gone any better. We worked with an organization titled Christian Surfers Australia who really made the outreaches/screenings on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and in Sydney an amazing launch to the five-month tour that Todd and Renae Morehead will be continuing throughout Australia and New Zealand during the next four months. It was obvious by listening to the audiences’ reactions that they loved the movie and, more importantly, were inspired by the message. The viewers especially enjoyed the Australia segment in the film. Surfing is one of the nation’s most popular sports and three-time World Champion Tom Curren has been a legend there for years. We were so honored to have Tom and his wife, Mackie, and sons, Frank and Pat, along with us. The Noosa Festival of Surfing invited us to show “Walking On Water” and to have Tom play music. It was an incredible opportunity and there were hundreds of people packed into the outdoor tent to listen to Tom and to watch the movie.

Santa Barbara & Ventura Outreaches

The West Coast Tour continued on March 13th when we premiered Walking On Water at the famous Arlington Theater in downtown Santa Barbara. The evening started off with over 2,000 people lined up anticipating the film premiere and special live music from Tom Curren and the Noah’s. Professional surfers Matt Beacham and Luke Davis were at the event, Al Merrick donated a surfboard to giveaway and Britt Merrick shared the Gospel message that evening. Over 40 people prayed to receive Christ for the first time and many prayed to rededicate their lives to the Lord. This night would not have been possible without the help of Bailey Platt from Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, Reality Church, and Christian Surfers Santa Barbara. The following evening we premiered the film in Ventura at the Ventura Theater to another large crowd of over 1,000 people. We would like to thank Esteem Surfshops and Roberts Surfboards for making this event possible. The next stops on the West Coast Tour are:

4/6 Newport Beach, CA
4/7 San Clemente, CA
4/17 UCSD, San Diego, CA
5/9 Palos Verdes, CA
5/10 El Segundo, CA
5/24 Costa Mesa, CA
