God really blessed the 15th year of Walking On Water Dream Surf Camps! The last day of camp we even had the rainbow seen in this photo. It was the best rainbow I have ever seen in California. It was a great reminder of God’s love and His promises! We hope to see you next summer at the Walking On Water Dream Surf Camps.

THE CAUSE
WE WILL NOT FORGET CHELSEA KING AND AMBER DUBOIS

Professional Athletes and Musicians partner with Campus Clubs to Bring Awareness

The Cause will raise awareness amongst middle and high school students surrounding legislative and educational reform efforts by the Chelsea’s Light FoundationTM. Students will learn how they can serve to make an impact in their community and on their campuses. They will also hear first hand from recognized skate, surf and football professional athlete’s their testimony of overcoming tragedy and making a difference. The main presenter for the evening is Bryan Jennings, Professional Surfer and Founder of Walking on Water Ministry.

Special guests include: Professional skate boarder Brian Sumner, professional surfers Matt Beacham and Bryan Jennings, and NFL player Marlon McCree. Jordan Frye and Trevor Davis will be the musical artists.

This event was organized through collaboration of San Diego County youth ministries including Horizon’s Innerstate 180, Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s, Young Life, Urban Youth Collaborative, and Walking on Water. Members of the San Diego CityFest with Luis Palau “Livin It” team came alongside these ministries to help build a Season of Service event honoring the King and Dubois families. The goal of “Livin It” is to engage youth in the midst of their own culture and to meet them with questions about faith and their role within their community.

The Cause is May 21st from 6 to 9 pm at Horizon Christian Fellowship located at 6365 El Apajo Rd in Rancho Santa Fe (92067). All are encouraged to attend this free event.

Mark 10:52 “Go” said Jesus, “Your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Back to the basics: Before we were blind now we can see, before we wandered, now we follow Jesus as He leads us along the path of life. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Lord Jesus, please lead the way as we follow you closely.

We had a great turn out last night at the Park City double feature movie night! We were on the Park City T.V. show and also on the local radio. Dave Downing, Matt Beacham, and Joel Parker did a great job with the question and answer time after the movies. Tonight we are on our way to the Salt Lake City screening at the K2 Church.

Friends,
Please be praying for Todd and Renae as they lead our Walking On Water Mission Trip in Chile right now through Jan. 13th.
Below are a few photos of the team and a update with prayer requests especially for the Walking On Water movie night outreaches Weds. and Thursday of this week. I wish I could be there with the team, but it is so encouraging to see what God is doing through Todd and Renae as our Missions Directors!

Thank you for your prayers!

God bless you today,

Bryan J.

(Yes that is Tyler Hallen in the front row all grown up!)

CHILE MISSION TRIP UPDATE FROM THE FIELD:

Hope all is going well! Just wanted to give you a little Chile update.
Everything is going great so far and the team is AWESOME!!!! A few people are sick so please be praying that they would feel better and more energized soon.
It has been so encouraging to team up with the YWAM crew over here in Pichilemu! It is amazing to see how the Lord is using this base to impact the community around them and share God’s love with the people here! The YWAM base is truly a part of the community here and it is just so neat to see how much the people respect Mitch and the other YWAM students. Mitch has done an amazing job at creating relationships with the locals- where, even if they are not believers they are accepting of the mission and message of the base. It is funny, we were walking to go surf the other day and Todd had to use the restroom but didn’t have any money with him (if you are in town you have to pay to use the bathroom)… There were two guys in charge of the restroom. He told them that he didn’t have any money and one of the guys didn’t care and just said “no” but then his friend Chimed in and said, “no, let him use it. They are good people” – It was just neat to see that the people in town really respect the people from the YWAM base… and that view seems to be pretty wide-spread with whomever we run into.
As far as ministry projects go,
We helped put on their surf contest at Punta De Lobos on Saturday. Some of the guys helped with the judging, other’s with signing people up and getting individuals ready for their heats, I took pictures, and we handed out some flyers with the YWAM base info on it so that people could get plugged into their summer programs- some of the guys on our team also surfed in the contest ! We got started a little later than we planned, but eventually, A LOT of people showed up to watch. Other than that we have been helping with odd jobs around the base, building walls, putting up fences, painting signs for with scripture on them for the base, painting the bathroom, etc. and last night we went to hand out flyers for our movie nights on Wed and Thursday! PLease be praying for our upcoming movie nights (Wed and Thurs). Everyone we gave flyers to seemed to be stoked about it so please pray that the Lord would use these events to open their hearts to His message of grace and Love…. and on top of all that we have somehow even found time to surf here and there! :)

(This photo is of Bethany during the filming of Walking On Water in Indonesia)

Filming has began in Oahu and Kauai, Hawaii on the inspirational life story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, a Christian who, at age 13, had her left arm bitten off by a tiger shark in October 2003. Based on Hamilton’s Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board (MTV Books), which was sold in some Christian bookstores, the film, also called Soul Surfer, is scheduled to be released in theaters late this summer, according to People magazine. The movie stars AnnaSophia Robb as Bethany; Dennis Quaid as her father, Tom; Helen Hunt as Bethany’s mother, Cheri; and Carrie Underwood as church youth leader Sarah Hill. Bethany, now 19, has become a top-performing pro surfer despite her injuries. Soul Surfer is being marketed by Affirm Films, the faith label of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, which is also marketing Courageous–the follow-up to the surprise hit Fireproof–scheduled to be released in theaters in 2011. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Affirm Films call Soul Surfer Hamilton’s “story of loss, courage and faith in God.” “Bethany’s story exemplifies personal faith, family unity, the guiding influence of a Christian youth-group leader and the trust of a 13-year-old girl who, weeks before the accident, began praying that God would make clear her purpose in life,” said Lovell-Fairchild Communications, the public relations firm that is publicizing Soul Surfer to the Christian retail channel. Doug Schwartz, co-writer of Soul Surfer’s screenplay, added: “I’ve been a writer and producer for the past 32 years, and I’ve never encountered a more inspiring true story than Bethany Hamilton’s. The movie will encourage people worldwide to rise above adversity.” Hamilton’s autobiography has sold nearly 1.5 million copies since its publication in 2004. A sequel, Soul Surfer-Now a Movie, is planned in conjunction with the theatrical release.
